Windmill-Inspired Hospital Mobile

Here’s a fun project slated for 2023. This series of hanging mobiles will reside in the lobby of a Lubbock hospital. Lubbock is home to the American Windmill Museum, and the region has a strong history windmills, so the client asked to to incorporate abstract windmill-inspired elements into our design.

The final design will incorporate about 30 individual mobiles featuring windmill-inspired blades. Each mobile spans about 6 feet, and they will be strung together to evoke a feeling of flow and rotation.

Portland Modern Home Installation

We completed two installations last week! The one hangs in the stairwell of a private residence just ten minutes from our shop space. It was designed to take full advantage of the skylight above, so the mix of materials—transluscent acrylic, stainless steel, and brass—create an interesting, colorful effect on the surroundings. The piece hangs about 10 feet tall by 7 feet wide. The client sent the kindest email the next day: “Everyone just loved this beautiful piece of work you’ve created. Couldn’t be happier;) Simply stunning!”

AllModern Store #2 Installation

We’re installing a large modern hanging mobile in each new AllModern brick-and-mortar store as they open. This one went in a store in Denham, Massachusetts, which is slated to open toward the end of November. Go check it out!

Portland, Maine Pre-Fab Mobile #3 Installation

Matt just returned from installing a Pre-Fab Mobile #3 at a children’s cancer center in Portland, Maine. All went smoothly. (Except some minor confusion when people talked about Portland—wait, which one!?)

Here are shots of the space before the installation:

And here’s the mobile installed in the space. We hope it’s is a source of joy and delight to the families who spend time in this space.

Ekko Workshop in Venice

Matt and his wife just returned from an epic trip to the Mediterranean with Matt’s parents, siblings, and their spouses. We could bore with with ALL the trip highlights… (Exploring Venice! Hiking in Montenegro! Swimming in the Ionian sea! Amalfi Coast! The Colosseum! Vatican City! St. Peter’s Basilica! Hiking the Cinque Terra coastline! So much gelato! Ok, enough already.)

We’ll keep it brief: it really was a fun highlight to visit the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and see an Ekko Workshop desktop mobile in the gift shop window. (And then, inside the museum, to see a stunning Alexander Calder mobile and silver wall sculpture!)

Magnificent Artwork at Red Rock Casino

Ben’s mother-in-law, who lives in Las Vegas, was recently at Red Rock Casino and sent us these images of Ekko Mobiles’ “magnificent artwork” at the Red Rock Casino. (Mother-in-law compliments might be the best kind.)
